Part I
Read chapters one through three of Slaughterhouse-Five. Go to the DB.
- A Pilgrim progressing and regressing. In what ways do you see our Billy as a pilgrim in Chapters two and three? Now that we know KV’s solution, how does he choose to herald his protagonist as a child pilgrim in the Crusades? Or looking at it slightly differently, how is Billy representative of the subtitle of the novel?
- The solution. After a long night of drinking with his buddy, reminiscing about the war, what and who comes up with a solution for KV to make him able to finally write about his experiences? What is the solution?
- The obstacle. What do you think has been KV’s obstacle in writing about his war (conflict) experience?
