RuBP stands for Ribulose-bisphosphate, or more specifically ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate.
RuBP is a modified 5 carbon sugar, ribulose, that also contains 2 phospates. In the Calvin-Benson cycle (sometimes called the “dark reactions” of photosynthesis), RuBP is the molecule that is bound to ##”CO”_2## during carbon fixation by the enzyme RuBisCO (Ribulose-bisphosphate corboxylase/oxygenase).
