1. How did the suffrage movement (1848–1920) reflect society’s expectations of gender roles? Do you think women’s involvement in the suffrage movement enhanced their role in public life? Why, or why not? 
2. The 19th Amendment was the result of a collective effort of many women and men. How can you relate to the sense of accomplishment felt by many of the suffragists in the aftermath of the ratification of the 19th Amendment?

1. What impact would this debate have on education opportunities for women in the decades following the end of the Civil War? How would improvements in higher education correspond to changes in the workforce for American women? 
2. In your response to the Discussion Board, consider connections you are able to make to your own life experiences. How are you able to relate to the experiences of women pursuing college degrees and workforce opportunities in the late 19th and early 20th Centuries?
