An Argument Against the Belief That Money Can Buy Happiness Free Essay Example
Happiness is known as the feeling that comes over us when we know life is prefect and we can’t help but smile. It’s the antonym of sadness. Some people fiend there happiness in a specific thing. For example, some people fiend there happiness in their friends, or family, and some of them become happy when they travel, or try something new, or even when they buy something that they really want. Although, some people think that money buy happiness, because people who have enough cash they will not be worry about living conditions.
I disagree because we should know that money can’t buy health, and money can’t buy social life.
The first reason why I am against that money can buy happiness, is that money can’t buy social life. Money can’t buy for the person a true friends, true friends that make us smile happy, and cheerful, and no matter how much he/she have money in this world they can’t buy this kind of friends.
In fact, the person who have a lot of money, often attract friends that pretend nice, and kind, and loyal, and all what they care of is money and how much the person who have money spend on them. Also, at the moment that the person lose his money and become poor, they will leave him. Moreover, money break families apart. For example, there is a lot of cases when the son pay for someone to kill his father to only have his fortune. Also, fortune separate between brothers and sisters when they don’t have money and they need some.
Last, money is so dangerous in social life because it’s bring problems and fake people, and people who only want the money and as soon as it’s finished they will walk away.
The second reason why I am against that money can buy happiness, is that money can’t buy health. Money can buy health treatment and medicine, but money can’t buy our health, because people who are responsible for their health, they must take preventative action. An example, watching what they eat, and stop smoking. In fact, doing the exercises and stop smoking, and watching what we eat, saves our life for long time. People who have money disregard their lifestyle, and reliance in money in the future to cure themselves when they become sick. Moreover, once our youth is gone, no amount of money will get it back like how it used to be.
Some people believe that money can buy happiness because money can solve life problems. According to Justin Kermond research, 2013. “Money can buy happiness if people make a focused effort on spending differently. If spending decisions are even half as complicated as investment decisions, there is no reason to assume that intuition alone provides a sufficient guide.” This means there are some people who can control their self in saving their money, and spend it wisely, and if they do that they will be happy. However, I still believe that money can’t buy happiness, because some people who have money may control themselves for short time, but soon or later they will spend all of it and lose their happiness. According to Dwight R. Lee, 2005. ” Although most people have long expressed agreement with proposition that obtaining more money doesn’t lead to more happiness, that admission has had no noticeable effect on their behaviour.” To explain, a lot of money doesn’t lead to more happiness in life. There is some truth in the argument that says more money doesn’t bring more happiness. However, I believe that money doesn’t buy happiness no matter the amount is.
In the conclusion, I don’t agree with people who says that money buy happiness, because of many reasons one of them is that money can’t buy healthiness, and can’t buy friends, family, and life. I recommend people who have money to take care for their life, because money doesn’t buy healthy life. Also, the people who have money should volunteer and give their money for charities, because when someone give money for people in need he/she will feel happy about it. Last, the person who have money should spend it wisely and think about the future.
