Classroom Management
Disruptive behavior and misbehavior can occur in any classroom. While it is important to identify these behaviors, it is even more important to observe them and try to determine why the behavior happened in the classroom. Teachers must be social detectives and observe behaviors to determine why a behavior is occurring if they are to plan effective interventions. If a teacher understands the needs of the student, the effect of the environment on the student, and identifies patterns (when the behaviors occur over time), it is easier to find ways to provide support, reinforce other behaviors, redirect behavior, and often even prevent a behavior from occurring in the future.
