Dark Ages Research Project and Diorama
1. Pick a topic (Study history from about 200-1500 depending on topic)
a) Maya and Aztecs
b) Umayyad’s and Abbasids
c) Chinese (Tang, Song or Ming Dynasty) and Mongols
2. Information to find
a) Find a map of the two empires and explain the geography (land and water features, weather, etc.)
b) Summarize the history of the empires in a paragraph: basic information only (copy/paste = 0)
f) List 5 Interesting facts about each empire
Level 4: Pick one of your two civilizations and create a diorama in a shoe box (or similar)
– Diorama should recreate a scene you may have found from the time period
3. Make sure to cite your work (minimum 3 sources)

Scoring: 1 – Basic information, but project is not complete
2 – All questions answered and sources cited
3 – All questions answered with specific details and sources cited correctly
4 – Level 3 plus a diorama (Honors: written explanation of diorama scene)
