An example of a leader that impacted organizational changes would be the former Johnson & Johnson CEO, James E. Burke. Burke showed his decisive leadership skills when he was faced with a crisis situation, the Tylenol poisoning spree in 1982. It was when cyanide was found within the antibiotic and, due to this, about seven people were killed. This caused mistrust and great losses for the company. Burke withdrew Tylenol and publicly promoted that they were recalling all of the Tylenol bottles in the news. He showed integrity by pulling more than 32 million Tylenol bottles and announced that J&J would focus on a triple sealed tamper resistant packaging for their products (“5 CEOs who successfully weathered a crisis”).
