English Composition I

Unit IV has focused on ways that you can become a better student through understanding the assignment; communicating your needs to your support network; writing a professional email; and reading, processing, and responding to feedback.

Consider moments in your life when you have received truly eye opening feedback. You may consider this moment in the context of your academic career, professional career, or personal life. Use the following as guiding questions:

• What was the experience like?
• What did you learn about yourself?
• How did you respond to the feedback at the time that it was given?
• Did you see it as constructive criticism or as an attack on your work?
• How did you learn from the experience?
• In what ways did the experience help you to grow in terms of the skills you were trying to master?

BROOKE:

One time when I was at work I noticed something very off and strange. Their was a passenger and she was on the run, she had so much money on her and was very aggressive. The passenger kept looking around and seemed very scared and it made me feel bad because I didn’t know what to do. The passenger had on dirty clothes and seem like she needed to rest her eyes. I felt so bad for her that I wanted to hug her and just pray for her. Turns out the passenger was running from the police and she had a warren.The experience was very strange and awkward. I learned that I’m very observant and cautious. After everything that happen the police talked to me and I received very good feed back because she was in a lot of trouble but also in danger. At one minute I felt attacked by how she approached me but then when I started watching her and asking her questions I noticed that she was very scared and wanted to get out the state. When this happened I experience being on my best behavior and also learn how to communicate with passengers to see what’s going on. I don’t know what happened to her after the police took her away but I hope shes okay.
