How are mitosis and meiosis similar?
February 20th, 2023
They are similar in the sense that they both serve the aim of cell division.
Similarities:
DNA replication occurs during interphase
The do both serve the aim of cell division
They share several steps in their respective processes. They both go through Interphase, Prophase, Metaphase, Anaphase, and Telophase.
Both produce new cells based on their parent cell’s genes.
The method through which chromosomes are pulled apart is the same.
The process of pulling apart chromosomes must always be preceded by the dissolving of the nuclear membrane so that the chromosomes may align in the middle of the cell.
