M2 A2 Response to Question
Original Posting: (See Instructors Question Below)Training is one of the ways you can address cultural issues. I think that training would be necessary in this case since training will enlighten the employees about cross cultural sensitivity and communication. Training will prevent such misunderstandings like the one that is being experienced and help the team work in a more productive and cohesive manner. A training program will help in addressing the subtle and invisible differences of age and diversity between the team members. Training will enlighten the team members how to incorporate the needs of each and every member of the team in a cohesive way. Training will teach the team members on cultural differentiation and how to uphold one’s culture and at the same time recognizing other culture’s value. My diversity training would not only focus on cultural congruence or the incorporation of workers from a number of cultures into an ordinary corporate culture. My diversity training program would also incorporate cultural differentiation that will teach the team members to on how to maintain their own culture while at the same time recognizing the value that other people from different cultures are bringing to the organization (Hogan-Garcia, 1999). The program will also bring perspectives that are culturally diverse to offer opportunity for enhanced participation in the organization. What resources would you use, and what issues would you address (if any) with human resources? Would you take any other actions in addition to training? The resources that I would use include using of different cultural skills from the staff. This would enable enhance cultural diversity in the workplace and would really help the employees to appreciate the cultures of one another. I would also promote cultural celebrations which would work towards the same purpose of promoting and appreciating cultural diversity as well as endorsing different cultures in the organization. I do not think that there is any issue that I would address with the human resource since there is diversity in their selection of the employees. The only issue is training so as to teach the team members to appreciate the cultural diversity that exist among them. The other action that I would take besides training is promoting cultural competence.References:Carter, R. (Ed.). (1999). addressing cultural issues in organizations: Beyond the corporate context. It shows good reasoning based on conventional wisdom of the assumed ideas in the scenario. Now if you were to create a solution on this case, what structure would you give to the training and how would you know it works? None of the research you list was included in the essay. Why not? What peer reviewed ideas can support the answers to my questions? Great opportunities to build some discussion and deeper critical thinking.
