Spanish Class Paper * Creativity Required**
Country Project Option 2: Itinerary and Travel Planning
Preliminaries
Included in this course is an interactive map of Spanish-speaking countries around the world: the Interactive Spanish Map. Clicking on a country on this map will bring you to a page with the flag of that country and a number of links with more information and resources on that country. Explore the map to familiarize yourself with its format and the type of information available on each country. The links give you access to an array of web resources with country-specific information including US government research reports, English-language newspapers published in that country, arts and culture, online newsletters and publications about the country, etc. This map and the associated links will serve as the basis for your research for this project.
The Assignment
Using the Interactive Spanish Map as a source, pick one Spanish-speaking country. Plan an itinerary for a one week trip to that country including places/cities you will visit, sites, monuments, museums, festivals and/or performances you plan to see, etc. Your trip may have a specific focus (such as Inca civilization, or colonial cities, or ecology, etc.), or it may be a general overview of main touristic highlights of that country. Do not worry about the logistics of the trip such as where to sleep or eat (unless food is the focus of your trip) or about how to get from one place to another.
Your itinerary should include the following:
- an explanation of the theme or focus of the trip (general tourism, baseball in the Dominican Republic, Aztec civilization, etc.) and why you selected that theme for the trip, that is, the significance of that topic in the country you will be visiting, and what you hope to learn while on your trip
- a day by day list of sites/activities you will see
- a description of these sites/activities and why you selected them
- optional: photos (from the internet) of some of the site/attractions you will be seeing

See MLA—Citing Your Sources for help with documentation.
Length of Assignment
Your completed assignment should be approximately 4-5 pages (not counting title page, double spaced, font size 12) or 1300-1700 words.
