Instructions: For this assignment, you will choose two primary sources that relate in some way to the same historical event, trend, or topic.( I attached the two sources below). Then, you will do the following:Choose a topic: Choose an historical event, trend, or topic. Explain why you have chosen this event, topic, or trend and how the two primary sources you have chosen relate to it.Compare and Contrast: Find two points of commonality between the two sources in regards to the topic you have chosen. Then, identify to points at which the two sources disagree.Consensus/Disagreement: Tell your reader what the similarities and/or differences in the two sources reveal about the topic you have chosen.Historical Question: Pose a historical question that you would be able to answer using these two sources. As with the Primary Source Analysis assignment, the question you pose should help you to reconstruct something about the way that people lived in the past. Please avoid reading comprehension questions, moral-ethical questions, and counterfactuals.Your final response should be 500-1000 words in length. You must use Chicago Style footnotes to document all of the sources that you draw information from. For the sake of your graders’ eye sight, please use twelve-point font and double-space your work.you will be graded on: -Student identified an historical issue, topic or problem. Student identified the chronological and geographic limits (where and when) of that issue. Student articulated clearly why that issue/topic/problem is worthy of scholarly study.-Student compares and contrasts the information that his/her source provides on his/her chosen issue. Student offers specific examples of agreement and disagreement from the texts. Student shows ability to read between the lines and shows awareness of authorial intent and bias.-Student identifies and explains at least two conclusions that can be drawn based on the agreement or disagreement of the sources. These conclusions are specific to the time and place being discussed and student refers to specific material from the text to support these conclusions.-Student poses an original question which demonstrates understanding of the both the sources and the historical setting to which they belong. The student’s question can generate two or more original, interesting theses (arguments). Answering the question requires the student to draw connections between the speficic (sources) and the general (a major historical issue of the period in question). Student uses evidence from the sources to show how the question relates to the sources and how the sources might be used to answer the question.-Student documents all of the material he/she takes from writings not his/her own by using properly-formated footnotes in an appropriate manner-Student’s paper is free of spelling errors and grammar mistakes. Student’s paper is written in academic style.
