Adrenaline, also called epinephrine, is a hormone that triggers the body’s so called fight-or-flight response. It is produced when a situation requires immediate action.
Adrenaline is produced in stressful situations by the adrenal glands. The hormone prepares your body for immediate action by:
increasing blood pressure
expanding airways
directing blood towards heart and lungs
reducing pain sensibility
dilation of the pupil
altering metabolism to release sufficient amount of glucose as a source of energy
